Blue Pancakes: Your Normal Breakfast With A Little Blue Effect

Blue Spirulina

An algae that grow in ponds, lakes, and alkaline waterways. It is renowned for its deep blue colour. Its specific colour is present due to a blue pigment called Phycocyanin. The most specific characteristic of it is that it doesn’t taste fishy, unlike green spirulina.

The algae has numerous nutritional properties and is so good that it could be even grown in space as proposed by NASA. A tablespoon(7 grams) of dried powder of it contains- 

  • 4 grams of protein  
  • Vitamin B1,B2,B3
  • Copper 21% of RDA
  • Iron 11% of RDA

Not only those but it also has powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It can also help in lowering bad cholesterol and also aid in weight loss. And it is also said that it may have ANTI-CANCER properties.

How To Get The Perfect Pancake And Spirulina Chemistry

Items required

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tsp sugar(according to taste)
  • ¾ cups milk
  • 1 small egg
  • 2 tsp butter, melted
  • 1 tsp blue spirulina powder (Blue food colouring)

Method :

Step 1: Take a bowl and add flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and spirulina powder one by one.

Step 2: Then slowly pour milk, egg, and melted butter in it. Make a smooth batter by combining them all

Step 3: Heat a lightly oiled frying pan on a medium-high heat.

Step 4: Pour the batter onto the pan and let it cook.

Step 5: Top it with some cream, blueberries and honey


Your delicious yummy BLUE pancakes are ready to dive in.
